Review: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream for Oily Skin
Lately I’ve been trying a lot of moisturizers for oily/combination skin in the high hopes of finding the perfect match. So I stepped into a Kiehl’s store and the friendly personnel offered me some samples of Ultra Facial Cream moisturizer. One small sample lasted me one week and I had 3, enough to make up my mind about the product.
At first I was a bit reluctant to use Kiehl’s cream just because I read a very convincing article on Truth In Aging.com some time ago and the impact was so powerful that I kept a bad impression in my mind. The article had a very detailed analysis on the ingredients in Ultra Facial Cream classifying it as a “chemical waste” containing too many preservatives, irritants and ingredients with a lot of marketing behind but less proven facts.
My experience
The texture is very light and it doesn’t have a particular smell. It takes some time until fully absorbed but at least it doesn’t leave any greasiness behind. Both my boyfriend and I tested it and the feeling was neutral, not an extraordinary moisturizer but not the worst one either. However I feel that there are better ones’s (that address the issue of oily skin more complexly) for the same price of 30 USD.
Conclusion
It was not a bad product but I won’t repurchase it again mainly because I have a personal problem with the brand. Being positioned as a “natural brand” it has absolutely no direction toward the natural world, the preservatives are chemicals (not that I have anything against parabens but most organic/natural companies choose to take them out of their products at least for the sake of the brand’s positioning) and the formulations contain a lot of controversial ingredients. If money is an issue for you I suggest not investing them in Ultra Facial Cream.
